Lamar Woodhouse, age 39, of New Haven, was killed early on Thursday, March 17, by the man he was attempting to rob at the Brandford Motel, located on East Main Street, police said.

According to Brandford Police detectives, Woodhouse was attempting to rob a man at the motel at gunpoint when the man pulled out a gun and shot him.

Detectives are working in collaboration with the Office of the New Haven Chief State’s Attorney and the investigation will determine if the victim will be charged, police said.

It’s unclear if the two men knew one another.
